With an average weight per foot of 450 lbs., the 4490 is heavy weight by competitive standards. The 4490 is available in either 8" or 9" spacings, sizes ranging from 18 ft. to 32½ ft., with a narrow transport width of less than 12 ft.
Lift System Slip-In Spindles Hydraulic Fold Front Gangs
A rephrasing hydraulic lift system is standard equipment on all 4490 discs. Depth stop segments c/w holder (main frame lift cylinder only) are supplied with each disc to ensure continuous same-depth tilling. Each of the wing frames can be easily leveled using a conveniently located eye-bolt adjustment. Cylinder arms on each of the rockshafts are equipped with replaceable hardened wear bushings for prolonged trouble free performance.
Slip-in spindles are standard on our 4490 main and wing frame wheels. All spindles are designed for maximum strength and ease of removal. Simply remove one bolt and pull out the axle – a valuable time saving should a tire repair be required.
All 4490 Discs fold hydraulically to narrow transport widths. The 4490 features a narrow center frame that allows it to fold to less than 12ft. Hydraulic lockout values are supplied standard to prevent accidental operation of the lift and wing-fold circuits when the disc is being transported.
Staggered overlapping front gangs are standard on all 4490 discs. This feature ensures that the ground is cut cleanly and evenly by the front gangs thereby eliminating ridging problems at the center. Also eliminated is the need for a center shank normally supplied with conventional tandem discs.
Forward Action Wheel
Forward – action wheel legs on the wings promote a level field finish by reducing ridging or gouging in the field. No need to add expensive and troublesome gauge wheels.
Frame
All 4490 Discs feature a rugged all-welded frame constructed of 4” x 4” high tensile tubing. Critical fore/aft beams on both the main and wide wing frames are doubled for additional strength.
FRAME: 4490 frames are all welded 4” x 4” x .250 wall tubing. Fore/aft beams on main and wing frames are doubled over wheels for additional strength.

GANG BEAMS: Integral to main and wing frames.

HITCH: Free floating design, automatically self-leveling and spring loaded. Adjustable with crank to level disc fore/aft.

GANG ANGLE: Fixed, 20 degrees front and 17 degrees rear.

GANG SHAFT: 1-15/16” diameter, high carbon steel.

SPOOLS: 5” diameter, steel fabricated, squared and beveled.

BLADES: 22” or 24” diameter available. Notched or plain available.

BEARINGS: 4490 has the 211 Series as standard, 410 Series bearings are available as an option.

FRONT GANGS: Staggered and overlapping – eliminates need for center shank or blade.

RIGID HANGERS: 4490 hangers are formed 5/8” steel, reinforced for additional strength. The slim line hanger is contoured for maximum trash clearance. All hangers are U-Bolt mounted to the gang beam for ease of adjustment or removal.

STONE-FLEX HANGERS: Optional, 1¼” x 2” formed spring steel.

SCRAPERS: 4” wide, formed carbon steel. U-Bolt mounted to scraper bar for maximum adjustment.

FURROW FILLER BLADES: Integral to rear gangs, four are supplied standard with each disc.

SLIP-IN SPINDLE: Standard on all 4490 wheels.

HUBS: 6 bolt hubs are standard on all Model 4490 wheels.

TIRES: 11L x 15 tires are standard on all 4490 wheels.
